Songful showcase celebrates return
A LIVE compilation of all your favourite musical songs is coming to Ballarat.
On Friday, 22 July, The World of Musicals will take to the stage at Wendouree Performing Arts Centre, playing the greatest hits of modern musical theatre.
The show will be the group’s first in Ballarat since their inaugural visit in 2017, and co-producer and performer Ciaran Olohan said the act is excited to return.
“It was a lovely atmosphere last time we were there. There’s a lovely theatre community in Ballarat, and a tradition of music and dance,” he said.
“It’s one of the nicer places to perform in Victoria and Australia so we can’t wait to come back.
“We’ll be performing songs all the way back to Gilbert and Sullivan to Rogers and Hammerstein right up to the modern age like Cats, Les Miserables and The Greatest Showman.”
There are 12 performers in the show, with three part of the previous performance, and a meet and greet will take place after the event.
With over 90 shows across the country, Olohan said Ballarat will be a highlight of the national tour.
“It’s actually one of the only places we’re actually returning to so it’s nice to bring a show back to where you’ve already been,” he said.
“When we come back to a country like Australia, we do try to update it every time with new songs and tweaked performances, so it’s a completely different show in many ways.”
