BALLARAT Carols by Candlelight presented by Harcourts will conclude with a bang, plenty of sparkle and big pops of colour.

Sponsored by Central Square, a finale by Northern Fireworks will top off the evening, dazzling candle wavers during the last song on Sunday, 22 December at City Oval.

Northern Fireworks’s Matt Batty is the brains behind the Australia Day pyrotechnic display at Lake Wendouree. Reading news of the revitalised Carols, he wanted to help create an “extra special” night.

“It’s hard to beat fireworks for entertainment. It really adds something and wraps up the night nicely. People go, ‘wow,’ and it’s a pinnacle for the evening,” Mr Batty said.

“We’ve explored some sites, worked together about how we can make it happen and have met with council, going through that whole process.

“If you’re at the event and looking at the stage, it will be right over the top. I think we’ve got something really good together,” he said.

Central Square’s Lynden Courtney is thrilled to be spreading the Christmas spirit as a partner.

The shopping centre is having their own Family Christmas Fest on Saturday, 14 December, featuring performers from Ballarat Carols by Candlelight ahead of the big night.

“Our Christmas Fest will be a great prelude to the Carols, and a chance to win fantastic picnic hampers full of food that you can take along to City Oval on Sunday, 22 December,” Ms Courtney said.

For Ballarat Carols by Candlelight President, Matt Hustwaite, the fireworks add another dimension to a busy performance program.

“Along with the Kids Carnival and our variety of food vendors, it means locals can really make a full experience of Ballarat Carols by Candlelight,” he said.
