MALAYSIAN-Indonesian eatery Flying Chillies it set to offer on-site cooking classes commencing in February.

While owner Lilly Wright offered classes last year at Barkley Square, this will be the first time they are held in the cafe’s new location.

“It’s just amazing to have the cafe at the moment, particularly to run the cooking classes,” she said.

“The idea is it’s going to be more comfortable and more engaging as well.”

Wright will be running Malaysian and Indonesian cooking classes where participants will learn how to make authentic local dishes.

Each class will go for three hours and participants will be able to get to know each other with a communal dining experience to finish the session.

“It’s not only about cooking, it’s about recipe sharing, making authentic food, balancing the flavours and balancing your palate,” said Wright.

“Indonesian and Malaysian cooking is all about how to master your flavours.”

Anyone is invited to take part in a class with no special knowledge or skills required.

“It’s suitable for beginner students and they will learn all about the ingredients and how to cook authentic food,” said Wright.

“The idea is to introduce people into different ethnicities in Malaysia and Indonesia because for example, in Malaysia we have 13 states, and each state has their own traditional food.”

Wright’s first class will be on Sunday 4 February. To book visit bit.ly/3Hly8S7.
