A NEW partnership between St Patrick’s College and Liverpool Football Club International Academy was announced yesterday.

The move is part of the ongoing growth of the English Premier League side’s academy and a co-curricular soccer school program will be introduced at St Pat’s starting next year.

“The partnership between St Patrick’s and the Liverpool Football Club is really exciting and will provide students at the college with access to the extraordinary approaches and training techniques of one of the great Soccer (or Football) clubs of the world,” said school principal Steven O’Connor.

“We have a strong soccer program already in place at SPC, but we are always looking for opportunities to strengthen and improve all of our programs, inside the classroom and outside in terms of sport, music and drama, and the partnership with the LFC is a wonderful example of this.”

The initiative aims to have benefits for the wider community as well, with the school hosting Liverpool FC International Academy community training sessions and vacation programs.

The events will seek to attract players to the region who want to experience a high level of coaching and playing.

“We share similar values as well as a strong desire to integrate world leading football into St Patrick’s College,” said director of Liverpool FC International Academy, Kevin Kalinko.

“In addition, we are tremendously excited to offer our programs to the broader community.”’

Local coaches who are interested in becoming part of the International Academy are also invited to get in touch and find out about upcoming opportunities.
