THE Ballarat West Employment Zone Circular Economy Precinct is a recent beneficiary of the State’s Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund.

BWEZ has been allocated $37,500 and is one of almost 40 projects in regional Victoria sharing a $20 million pool.

The City of Ballarat’s circular economy framework is encouraging residents and businesses to reduce waste.

A circular economy in Ballarat could generate between $57 million and $100 million’ worth of gross regional product, and between 380 and 680 additional jobs.

The Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund is designed to boost local projects, to create jobs, and to assist with the delivery of infrastructure that is supporting growing communities.

“The Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund is part of our record investment to help communities to grow,” said Minister for Regional Development Harriet Shing.

“The 38 new projects we are funding will create jobs and fantastic facilities for regional and rural Victoria.”

In the last seven years, money from the fund has gone to 48 local councils across rural and regional Victoria, and businesses, boosting 1000 projects, and creating about 13,000 jobs.
