Summer display blooms at gardens
SEASONAL flowers are on display at the Robert Clark Conservatory at the Ballarat Botanical Gardens to celebrate summer.
The showcase includes triangle garden beds in a geometric pattern and three water features.
The highlight of the display is three living collections of pelargoniums, fuchsias and hydrangeas and there are also foliage plants including hostas, heuchera, canna lilies, coleus and lamium.
Mayor Cr Tracey Hargreaves said the showcase brings the area to life.
“Throughout the year, the City of Ballarat’s talented gardeners grow the spectacular floral centerpieces for the conservatory that never fail to delight residents and visitors,” she said.
“The collections are grown in the Ballarat Botanical Gardens’ Nursery, and records show they are some of our oldest collections dating back to the late 1880s.”
The conservatory first opened in 1995 and is renowned for its Autumn display of begonias.
It is open 9am until 6pm daily and the summer display will conclude on Friday 7 February.
