Summer sounds are back on Sundays
LIVE music will fill the Ballarat Botanical Gardens each weekend in January as the City of Ballarat’s free Summer Sundays concert series returns.
The open-air gigs will be staged from 4pm to 8pm on Sunday, 8, 15, 22 and 29 January, with different high-profile artists, local and emerging musicians on the bill each time.
Food and beverage stalls and trucks are set to be on site for another year, serving treats which concert goers can enjoy alongside the sounds.
Local wine, spirit, and beer producers from across the region will also be featured within a pop-up garden bar space.
City of Ballarat mayor Cr Des Hudson said the gigs will get 2023 started on a high note.
“What better way is there to kick back on a Sunday afternoon in summer than to indulge in some brilliant entertainment in your own backyard?” he said.
“As a council, we are extremely supportive of live music and the creative industry, and the latest Creative City Report Card shows how much the sector is booming in Ballarat.
“It’s going to be another terrific display of entertainment and the best part is, it’s absolutely free.”
More than half the performers are set to be Ballarat locals, and a firework display over the lake at 9.30pm will follow the 15 January concert.
A bean bag lounge area will be set up at Summer Sundays, but with limited capacity, so as usual, concert goers are encouraged to bring along their own picnic rug and camp chairs.
