Sunday market to mark milestone
BALLARAT Market is turning forty-four in November, and everyone is welcome to celebrate with the institution’s organising group, the Rotary Club of Ballarat South.
The group is set to mark the Sunday trash and treasure staple, and its tradition of putting funds back into local grassroots causes, on 5 November at the showgrounds, from 8am to 12.30pm.
“Ballarat Market is a cherished institution that has played a pivotal role in fostering community spirit and giving back to the city of Ballarat,” market manager Jaymee Ellis said.
“This historic event invites the entire Ballarat community to join in commemorating 44 years of excellence, philanthropy, and togetherness.
“The Ballarat Market has stood as a symbol of community unity and support for over four decades, providing a vibrant platform for locals to connect, celebrate, and contribute to the betterment of Ballarat.
“Through the generosity of our community, the market has raised over $10 million, which has been reinvested into the city’s various charitable initiatives and community projects.”
Family-friendly games and activities, performances from local artists, eclectic stalls, and a friendly social atmosphere are on the agenda for the celebration.
Ms Ellis said it’s also an opportunity for Rotarians to thank marketgoers for their “unwavering support” since 1979.
“Your contributions have made a profound impact, touching the lives of countless residents and helping build a stronger, more connected Ballarat,” she said.
“We invite you to share this momentous occasion with us. Spread the word, extend invitations to your friends and family, and join us as we celebrate Ballarat’s history, present, and future at the 44th Ballarat Market anniversary celebration.”
