FIVE Ballarat Grammar students will perform at a Piano for Pleasure concert at the Anglican Cathedral Synod Hall tomorrow.

The students are currently preparing for the upcoming Royal South Street Society eisteddfod piano competitions and exams with teacher Bronislaw Sozanski.

“Camilla Gonzalez-Zhu and Kylie Fernando are very excited to be performing a duet,” said Sozanski.

“The girls approached me with a request to learn a duet and have been working studiously at lunch times to perfect their performance.

“They will also perform solo works.

“Students Ben Bi and Louis Zhao, who study at my private studio, will perform works from their Certificate of Performance program, which is the level above Grade 8.

“Ben was awarded the Chisholm Street Prize at last year’s South Street competition, which is a paid performance opportunity.

“Shayla Tang, who is preparing for Grade 6 Piano, is looking forward to the South Street competition, hoping to repeat her recent successes at the Bendigo Eisteddfod.

“She competed in four sections and was awarded two First, one Second and one Third place.”

Following the one-hour concert, students will meet the audience over afternoon tea.

“We invite the public to attend this concert to support Ballarat’s young pianists,” said Sozanski.

“Support for the Anglican Cathedral will be very much appreciated.

“A $20 donation is requested which will contribute to the Cathedral’s outstanding music program.”

The concert will begin at 2pm at the Anglican Cathedral Synod Hall, Lydiard Street South.
