THE manufacturing capacity of Delacombe confectionary and snack food maker Ferndale Foods Australia has been boosted.

The family-run brand is spending $20 million to establish state-of-the-art production lines under the banner of FoodLine Australia, which will aim to cater to consumer demands for their healthier food options by producing 180 million snack bars a year.

“We are thrilled to embark on this exciting journey for Ballarat and Australian food manufacturing,” states,” CEO of Ferndale Foods Australia Leigh Edward said.

“After extensive research and consultation with our major customers and leading brand owners, it became evident that what the industry lacked was a comprehensive manufacturing hub capable of producing a diverse range of bars, including protein, muesli, low-sugar, gluten-free, and high-fibre options.

“Our new facility will fill this gap and meet the evolving needs of health-conscious consumers, making this an exciting time for Ballarat and for Australian food manufacturing.”

Ferndale Foods are also the producers of So Soft Marshmallows, which launched six years ago in response to the outcomes of lolly market research.

“Similar to our success with marshmallows, we recognise the existing demand and aim to provide a one-stop-shop solution with state-of-the-art technology, streamlined production, storage, and shipping capabilities,” Mr Edward said.

“This will greatly benefit our major customers.”

Mr Edwards said he expects the business will be able to employ 30 new people by the end of 2024.

“As a local family-owned business, we are committed to giving back to the Ballarat community by providing secure, permanent employment to local residents,” he said.

“Our focus extends beyond jobs. We strive to foster a positive workplace environment and culture.”
