ALTHOUGH Creswick will be pumping with live music this weekend, there are other programmed events on offer to engage curious explorers and visual art-lovers.

An eight-and-a-half-kilometre heritage walk will be led by retired FedUni academic Barry Golding on both Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8am to 10.30am, leaving from the visitor information centre.

“While people are up for the music festival, they might like to find out more about the landscape,” he said.

“I’m leading a guided tour from heart of Creswick, through remarkable country; the forestry school, La Gerche Trail, St Georges Lake, Creswick Creek, and back.

“It’s all about taking time out to explore and find out more about the location, on a loop walk which was put in five years ago by the Great Dividing Trail Association.”

Creswick’s Inimitable Lindsays is an exhibition highlighting the Lindsay siblings who became artists, will be held at the Masonic Lodge.

“There was Norman, and his other four siblings; Lionel a printmaker, Percy the landscape oil painter, Ruby who was an illustrator, and Daryl – a competent landscape painter who became famous for running the National Gallery of Victoria,” said Creswick Arts Pavilion president Andrew Bell.

“Our aim is to make people aware that there was more than just Norman, and that four of them were very capable artists.

“We’ll spotlight each of the 20 pieces like jewels in a jewel box, and we’ll have some live folk musicians performing while people browse the beautiful hall.”
