Tim Bone to headline harvest festival
MASTERCHEF Australia: Back to Win’s Tim Bone is heading to Sovereign Hill to celebrate Ballarat’s producers and makers.
Heritage Harvest Weekend returns Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 May where Bone will headline the weekend of cooking demonstrations and question and answer sessions.
Bone will run a series of cooking demonstrations including creating a dish using a mystery box of local ingredients, a raspberry drop dessert and hearty beans.
“It’s one of my favourite weekends on the Ballarat calendar and I’m super excited to be involved as ambassador of the event,” he said.
“It’s a great chance for us in Ballarat to show off to visitors all the amazing things that we have and are producing from artisans to craftspeople to producers.
“If you haven’t been to Sovereign Hill in a while, this is probably one of the best weekends to go because not only do you get all the amazing things Sovereign Hill normally has to offer, you get all these additions for free.”
Bone will be joined by chef at Hotel Canberra, Jigs Liwanag, founder of Exotic Bazaar, Gilava Pour, and executive chef for Peter Rowland Group at Sovereign Hill, Simon Hardie.

Children can take part in an array of hands-on activities and more than 20 local stalls will make up the harvest village market.
Sara Quon, CEO of The Sovereign Hill Museums Association said the weekend is about highlighting and enjoying all the Ballarat region has to offer.
“Heritage Harvest Weekend brings together everything that makes Ballarat’s food culture so special,” she said.
“We’re thrilled to showcase these talents at Sovereign Hill and connect visitors with the makers who keep these culinary traditions alive.
“Heritage Harvest Weekend is about more than food – it’s about celebrating the people, stories, and skills that have shaped our region’s culinary heritage from the gold rush to today.”
Entry to the festival is included in a standard Sovereign Hill entry ticket. To find out more, visit the Heritage Harvest Weekend website.
