THANKS to Jack’s Wine’s current fundraising initiative, you can enjoy some great local wine while contributing to a worthy cause.

For the month of November, $10 from every six-pack of wine sold at Jack’s Wine will be donated directly to the Shorter Brothers Foundation.

Business owner Jack Simic said he was eager to help the local charity in any way he could.

“We started this fundraiser last year when a friend of the Shorter family came to us and we organised it,” he said.

“We did some research and thought why not, it’s a cause that’s local and something we can see a benefit for rather than a big charity, we know exactly where this is going.

“It proved very successful and a lot of people liked to support it and at the same time get some wine as well, it’s not just simple a donation.”

The Shorter Brothers Foundation was created by Leigh and Belinda Shorter as a way of raising awareness and funds for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy after their three boys were all diagnosed with the disease.

Living with the progressive neuromuscular disease that destroys muscle tissue and dramatically reduces life expectancy, the Shorter boys face constant health challenges which are emotionally and financially taxing.

“Last year we raised almost $3000 and we’ll try to do the same thing again because they’re a really nice Ballarat family and they need some funds,” Mr Simic said.

As a local cause in need of support, the wine fundraiser is also backed by Jack’s Wine’s partnerships with both De Bortoli Wines and Grill’d Ballarat.

“Brendon Charleson who is the initial organiser of this fundraiser works for De Bortoli wines so that’s the connection,” Mr Simic said.

“All the wines are De Bortoli’s and to make things easier for people, we’ve made up four parcels of wine, a sparkling pack, a white pack, a red pack and a mixed pack.

“Grill’d Ballarat have come and supported it as well and with every six-pack purchase, you also get a free burger voucher.”
