Troupe ready to perform poet’s prose
ACTING trio, Lawson and his Mates, have been preparing to perform in celebration of the famed Australian poet and storyteller Henry Lawson. Following a performance at the Art Gallery of Ballarat which took place on Sunday, the group is set to hold a second show in the same space on Sunday, 27 November in acknowledgement of the 100th anniversary of Lawson’s death. The group consists of performers Peter Vanderkley, Jane Gaylor and Hedley Thomson, who will recite Lawson’s prose and poems like The Loaded Dog, The Drover’s Wife and A Song of the Republic. On repertoire is made up of about 20 pieces with different works presented between both sessions. The event is free and the performance will begin at 2pm. Photo: TIM BOTTAMS
