A FREE event is being held at the Civic Hall to talk about faith in an Australian context.

Presenter, Karl Faas, is travelling around the country and making a documentary series, Faith Runs Deep, that’s aiming to find stories of belief and deviation.

The Ballarat event will give insight on content of the series and encourage people to watch it.

Topics covered by the documentary include First Nations people, politics, sport, the arts, the armed services and much more.

“Unearthed is basically a bit of a snapshot of the series and we’ll be hearing peoples’ stories of faith,” said Tim Clark from the Peel Street Church of Christ.

“Karl will talk about his experience talking to people all over Australia.”

Each episode of Faith Runs Deep will include information from academics as well as personal experiences of Faas.

He will be joined in Ballarat by country musician Colin Buchanan who’ll perform several songs as well as artist Bindi Cole Chocka who will be sharing her faith journey.

Mr Clark said it is important that people learn about Australia’s history in relation to faith and that the free event at Civic Hall was chance for people to come together.

“Australia has a rich Christian heritage and faith in God runs through our history,” he said. “It’s a combined churches event so there’s a whole bunch of churches involved.

“We are hoping people will bring their friends along to begin discussions about faith and what a relationship with God may look like.”

The Unearthed event will be held Thursday, 4 May at 7pm. To register visit olivetreemedia.com.au.
