Uni academics highly cited

FEDERATION University researchers have been named some of the world’s most referenced scholars.

Elsevier and Stanford University’s 2023 most cited academics list features eight Mount Helen campus researchers in the top two per cent for their sectors.

Federation University Australia vice-chancellor and president Professor Duncan Bentley said the recognition highlights and endorses the quality of the diverse research happening in Ballarat at the institution.

“The latest data from Elsevier and Stanford University reveals that many Federation University researchers are globally renowned in a number of disciplines,” he said.

“Having researchers of international renown not only enhances our overall research capability and impact, it also helps attract the best and brightest post-graduate students to our campuses who have the prospect of being mentored by true leaders in their field.”

Local researchers on the list are Yutang Wang in cardiovascular system and hematology, Jiefeng Hu in electrical and electronic engineering, Gary Falloon in education, Nima Amjady and Syed Islam in energy, Manoj Khandelwal in geological and geomatics engineering, Warren Young in sport sciences, and Rochelle Eime in public health.

A total of 15 Federation University students based at the institution’s various campuses have featured on the list.

Research work at Federation University aims to tackle regional Victorian, national, and global issues, and to change the lives of those affected by them.

Elsevier is a Netherlands-based education and peer review education publisher with a focus on science, engineering and medical spaces.
