Finance firm funds food for families
AT Coles Stockland Wendouree on Monday morning, five thousand dollars’ worth of groceries were put through the check-out in one transaction and packed into a line of trollies.
These essentials were bought by the 3BA Christmas Appeal with a $5000 donation from W&D Finance.
The supplies were delivered straight to the Appeal’s beneficiary welfare agencies; Anglicare, St Vincent de Paul, the Salvation Army, and Uniting Vic. Tas, who are providing emergency relief, basic food and Christmas hampers to thousands of local families in need this festive season.
After the economic devastation experienced over the last two years, finance manager at W&D Michael Rice said his team felt it was only appropriate to give a major cash donation from their profits to a cause that would directly help local families seeking assistance.
“It’s amazing to see the amount of groceries that $5000 provides, and we hope it will help out a lot of families around the Ballarat region,” he said.
“We’ve been a strong supporter of the 3BA Christmas Appeal for a number of years, and it’s a fitting Appeal given the times we’ve been in.
“With Peter Caligari retiring as well, we thought it would be a good opportunity to put a reasonable donation in.”
3BA general manager John Fitzgibbon said Ballarat’s ability to increasingly provide support continues to positively surprise him.
“The amazing generosity of the community knows no bounds. That’s the true spirit of Christmas, and it’s more alive than ever,” he said.
“Cash donations give us the flexibility to purchase the staples and Christmas items the agencies need for hampers.”
