We will remember them

SCHOOL students, including Tom, Grade 6 from St Patrick’s Primary School, came together on Tuesday, 23 April to honour service men and women who have passed.

Three-hundred and seventy-five pupils from 12 schools placed flags on graves at Ballarat Cemetery and the Old Ballarat Cemetery.

“We placed 1300 flags throughout the Old and New Cemeteries last year,” said Ballarat Cemeteries Chief Executive Officer Annie De Jong.

“Further investigation into our records by our passionate and dedicated volunteers has led to the identification and location of many World War II graves and memorials.”

This is the third consecutive year that Ballarat Cemeteries has recognised World War I participants and the second year WW2 service personal have been honoured in the same way.
