BALLARAT Community Health has opened a new clinic in Wendouree, aiming to promote health and wellbeing not only locally, but also to the wider Ballarat community.

The health centre, which opened on Monday, 13 January, offers both general practitioner and allied health services including podiatry, counselling and dietetics.

The facility includes 11 consulting rooms, with two GPs, a sexual health nurse, exercise physiology, diabetes education and there’s still more services to be added.

Ballarat Community Health CEO Sean Duffy said one of the most important aspects of the clinic is that it does not discriminate.

“We know that there are certain members of our community that have traditionally found it difficult to access services, or they don’t feel comfortable accessing services,” he said.

“These amenities are welcoming, accessible, safe and we invite people who have particular needs to come to our services and see what we can do to support them.”

Situated at 1042 Howitt Street, the site’s location means that the medical centre is reachable via bus and train, to cater to people who may rely on public transport.

Marketing and communications manager at BCH, Lauren Wall, said the clinic is not only beautiful and inviting, but also easily accessible for all people.

“You can book online at any time to see a GP, when you come in you can easily check-in through a screen and we really encourage people to come check out this state-of-the-art facility,” she said.

Appointments can be made by phone at 5338 4500, or online at bchc.org.au.
