THE Ballarat Wildlife Park has been named a finalist in the major tourism attraction category of this year’s Victorian Tourism Awards.

The awards by the Victoria Tourism Industry Council celebrate excellence in the tourism industry, recognising organisations that provide outstanding experiences.

Park founder and owner Greg Parker said he was grateful for the recognition.

“After winning gold for best attraction in 2023, stepping up and becoming a finalist in the major tourism attraction category is such an incredible achievement,” he said.

“This acknowledgment reflects our passion for conservation and showcasing Australia’s incredible wildlife and the hard work, dedication and commitment to the animals of our entire team.

Ballarat Wildlife Park is home to a diverse range of native Australian animals including southern hairy-nosed wombats.

“We are committed to delivering unforgettable experiences to our visitors and promoting Ballarat as a top-tier tourism destination.”

The Ballarat Wildlife Park is home to a diverse range of native Australian animals including kangaroos, koalas, wombats, reptiles and bird species, and even two Sumatran-Siberian tigers.

Visitors can get close to the creatures and learn about their conservation and the importance of protecting habitats.

The winner of the award will be announced at a gala dinner later this month.
