CRESWICK-based education charity Youthrive Victoria is encouraging young people to apply for their 2024 university scholarships.

Any current year 12 student from a regional or rural area who is aiming to begin a tertiary degree next year is eligible to nominate themself for support worth $10,000 per year for three years.

Youthrive and Community Bank Creswick and District have joined forces as part of the initiative, which seeks to help not just the successful scholars, but all those who apply.

“We are thrilled to partner with Community Bank Creswick and District, in providing scholarships for 2024,” Youthrive CEO Maryann Brown said.

“All applicants will be invited to participate in leadership development and mentoring activities.

“Young rural Victorians who are finishing school this year are welcome to apply for a Youthrive Victoria scholarship.”

The scholarship program aims to make further education more accessible as well as helping recipients cover the cost of living and travelling, particularly if they are making a move from the country to the city.

Youthrive was formerly known as the Macpherson Smith Rural Foundation, and the not-for-profit seeks to bolster country Victorian communities by supporting young people, helping them develop leadership skills, and offering other support.

Sponsors, private and philanthropic donations fund the scholarships, and students interested in applying can visit youthrivevictoria.org.au before the end of Friday, 25 August.

Rural Chances scholarships worth $5000, for those seeking to go into vocational education after school, will then open on Sunday, 3 September and close on Friday, 3 November.
