A day to remember for Taylor

BOB Morley celebrated his three-hundredth race as a Eureka Cycling Club member on Saturday, 12 June.

A two-time winner of the club aggregate in 2011 and 2018, Morley joins Tony Mirabella in the Eureka 300 Club.

On the course heavy fog greeted the COVID compliant field of 18 riders soon burned off, leaving the circuit bathed in sunlight and a fair westerly breeze ensured the day remained cool and only assisted the riders in the home straight.

Luke Taylor rode the final 15 kilometres solo to collect his first handicap race win at Eureka since joining the club at the start of the year.

The victory comes just four years after he was struck by a motor vehicle while cycling.

Taylor suffered horrific injuries in the accident and died in the medivac helicopter enroute to Melbourne.

Saved by the paramedics, he spent five months in hospital and two years in a wheel chair. He has endured over thirty operations to mend his broken body.

Taylor now leads the 2021 Winter Aggregate Race Series.
