THE Probus Club of Ballarat New Generation organised and hosted a lawn bowls competition for Probus members at Victoria Bowling Club last Thursday.

The major tournament brought together representatives of 30 clubs from St Arnaud, Maryborough, Dunolly, Daylesford, Ararat, Geelong, Buninyong, Ballarat, Hoppers Crossing, Point Lonsdale, Bacchus Marsh, Timboon, Highton, Hamilton, Werribee, Colac, Warrnambool and Stawell.

Ballarat New Generation Probus Club’s Peter Bond said the tournament was a great opportunity for bowlers of all backgrounds to get to know one another.

The New Generation group was “collectively delighted” about how the competition had come together, seeing over 120 bowlers on the greens in Ballarat East.

“It’s the first year the tournament has been held in Ballarat for four years,” Mr Bond said.

“We’ve been well supported by the clubs and our sponsors, especially Bendigo Community Banks. Victoria Bowling Club has bent over backwards to help us.”

Ballarat New Generation plans to host the Probus tournament again on 20 February, 2020. Entries can be sent to Barry Huebner on 0419 834 178.
