NORTH Ballarat Cricket Club will enter a team into the upcoming Melbourne All Abilities Cricket Association competition season.

Currently working to put together an all-abilities squad, the Club is inviting potential players to head to the Northern Oval off Creswick Road this weekend to try out for the team.

NBCC are the coordinators of Ballarat’s All Abilities Cricket Program which launched this year, offering a playing space any people with disabilities to bat, bowl and field.

Cricket director, Adam Eddy is leading the initiative which is the only one of its kind in the city. He hopes it will be a positive outlet for people.

“In Ballarat and the wider region, people with disabilities don’t really have a sport to play in the summer,” he said.

“We’re really excited to get this program off the ground.”

The try-out session will run from 10am to 12pm this Sunday, 15 November. NBCC asks those trying out arrived on site 15 minutes early so their details can be recorded.

The BAACP is supported and run by Club coaches and volunteers so players can strengthen their cricket skills and love of the game.

“This program is open to everyone. Whether they have intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities…we just want everyone to take part and have some fun,” Mr Eddy said.
