Ballarat hosts display of young footy talent

ABOUT six hundred up-and-coming young Aussie rules footballers from across regional Victoria were in Ballarat this week to compete as part of the seventy-fifth V/Line Cup.

Div 1 Girls match between Dandenong Stingrays and Gippsland Power at Mars Stadium.

 

Under-15 boys and girls representing the AFL Victoria country regions the local Greater Western Victoria Rebels, Bendigo Pioneers, Geelong Falcons, Gippsland Power, Goulburn Murray Bushrangers, North East Border Bushrangers, and South East Stingrays, played a total of 21 matches from Monday to Wednesday across Marty Busch Reserve in Sebastopol, Learmonth Reserve and Mars Stadium in Wendouree.

Each team competed in two matches over the three days, with 70 emerging umpires from the V/Line Umpire Academy officiating.

The V/Line Cup is a key part of the Coates Talent League and AFL talent pathway systems, helping young people showcase their footy skills to selectors.
