COMMENCING this season’s start to the bowls season, the Ballarat Highlands Bowls Region held its Super Veteran’s afternoon on Thursday afternoon at the Sebastopol Bowling Club recognising thirty two bowlers from the Ballarat clubs still playing bowls after reaching 80 years of age.
Prior to the presentations, a short social game of 10 ends was played with the rink of Noel Sutherland (Sebastopol), Tony Fletcher (BMS) and Frances Grady (Invermay) winning through as the winners for the afternoon.
In all a total of 50 newly inducted and previous inducted Super veterans enjoyed the afternoon hospitality provided by the Sebastopol club.
A brief history was read out of each new inductee with many having a long history of playing the game and achieving Pennant and championship games success over the journey and some making significant contributions for many years holding office bearer positions for their beloved clubs.
