HAVE a hit and meet your neighbours at Buninyong & District Tennis Association’s weekly social evenings.

Each Thursday from 7pm to 9pm, the association is inviting local players, above the age of 16, to enjoy a few games of pressure-free tennis with those of a similar level.

The social comp is an initiative of association members, Flynn and Erin Jamieson.

“We have fantastic courts in Buninyong, and they’re there to be used, so we want to encourage all the communities in our association to come out and just have a social night of tennis,” Mrs Jamieson said.

“It’s really good for us all to just get out, have fun, and build a community atmosphere. In COVID times, we’ve missed that interaction, so this enables us to get out in a no-pressure environment, purely to have a hit and meet people.

“It’s a good opportunity to get to know your neighbours, and people in your community, so your feel more a part of the area.”

Participants will be matched with people of the same level and have the option to play singles, doubles, or both.

Although the Thursday events are formally for those over 16, the whole family is welcome, and there will be space for children to run around or kick a ball.

Entry is $5 per person. Contact [email protected].

Bring your own drink and a snack as none will be provided due to COVID-19 plans. The competition will not run if the weather is wet.

The association’s area stretches beyond Ballarat and Buninyong to Ballan, Dunnstown, Elaine, Gordon, Grenville, Haddon, Mount Helen, Napoleons, Navigators, Meredith, Rokewood, Ross Creek, Smythesdale and Warrenheip.
