City shooter lifts McLean

THERE was a bit of a shock result in the Sally McLean Medal for best Ballarat Netball League A Grader with 18-year-old Madison Selmon from North Ballarat City taking out this year’s prestigious award.

The young shooter, who will be representing both North Ballarat’s A-Grade side as well as 19 & Under team this Saturday in both grand finals, held off much more fancied contenders including teammate, Gina McCartin.

A shy, but humbled Selmon said after receiving the award, “It’s super exciting, but I am more excited for the weekend and it has just been just such a great season.”

A full product of City’s junior system, the netballing world may be Selmon’s oyster with bigger opportunities at not only representative level definitely on the horizon but maybe even a stint in National Netball League.

“I obviously want to go as far as I can with my Netball, but right now it is all about this weekend and North Ballarat City,” she said.
