BURRUMBEET Cricket Club members are currently searching for new players to join the club’s two male squads.

The club has two teams in the second XI division one and the fourth XI division one in Ballarat Cricket Association competitions.

“Anyone 16 and over and male, we have no female sides at the moment, is welcome to join and no experience is required,” said club president Charlie Martin.

“We’re just a small country club that have two grades in the second and fourth division and we’re a very tight knit club.

“We’re located at the Burrumbeet racetrack so only about 15 minutes out of town.”

Training is currently on and Wednesday nights in Delacombe but will soon move back to Burrumbeat following the completion of the new cricket nets at the club’s home ground.

“Saturday are our games and our trainings are Tuesday and Thursday once our nets are done,” said Martin.

“We’ve had the same nets for nearly 40 years and they’re finally being redone so it means better training facilities and better access for the younger generation.”

Martin said the smaller feel of a country club means everyone feels welcome and it’s a great way to develop friendships.

“It’s the place to be and a lot of fun,” he said.
