Brown Hill Coach Anne McCartin rallies her troops during halftime of last night’s game against Eureka

Eureka has thrown down a spirited challenge to the undefeated Brown Hill in round four of Ballarat netball’s premier competition The Athlete’s Foot Cup.

Led by reliable goaling combination Lauren Jew and Maddy Selman, Eureka jumped out to a six goal lead by quarter time.

Fielding its strongest combination of the season so far, Brown Hill was spurred into action.

Ruby Parry went to goal attack in the second quarter and turned the game on its head.

She helped turn the six goal deficit into a six goal lead by half time.

That allowed coach Annie McCartin to put her dynamic young goalers together in the second half, and Poppy Douglass and Brianna Gregory rewarded the faith.

Brown Hill finished strongly to claim the win 66 goals to 50.

Eureka coach Jenni Nicholls was left to lament the fact her team again gave up a winning position.

“We haven’t put together a four-quarter effort yet this season,” Nicholls said.

“But we’re improving each week and that four-quarter game isn’t far away.”

In the night’s other game, a noticeably stronger Dela Oscar’s unit beat an under-strength Wendouree.

Wendouree goalers Shiane Milera and Izzy Rustman were both on loan from the club’s Laffey Shield team, and they played brilliantly.

But they were starved for supply by the Dela Oscar’s mid court, which was boosted by the return from injury of Kathryn O’Dwyer.

Eleanor Costello and Georgia Cann helped Dela take control of the game in a powerful third quarter.

Their team won the game 68 goals to 44.
