Fire up for free footy fun!
ROUND twenty-four of the AFL season will see the Western Bulldogs face off against the Greater Western Sydney Giants at Mars Stadium, with free tickets available for children.
The announcement was made by the State Government last week, and all general admission tickets for children 14 years and under will be free for the final round of the season across the state.
“I’m really excited to say that the Allan Labor Government in partnership with the AFL is announcing kids go free round for round 24,” said Member for Wendouree, Juliana Addison.
“In Ballarat this is particularly exciting because we have the Western Bulldogs playing the Greater Western Sydney Giants here in Ballarat on the Sunday at 12.30pm.
“What it means is that for mums and dads who buy a ticket, they can bring their kids to the game for free at Mars Stadium.”
As well as the match on Mars, the Geelong Cats will play the West Coast Eagles at Kardinia Park.
The MCG will host both Melbourne versus Collingwood, and Richmond versus Gold Coast, and at Marvel Stadium, Carlton will take on St Kilda.
“Whether you back any teams across the whole fixture from Friday night football at the MCG, at Marvel over the weekend, down at Kardinia Park, and here at Mars Stadium, kids will go free for the entire weekend,” said Ms Addison.
“We know that with cost-of-living pressures it’s really hard for families to often take kids to lots of other activities so this is another way we’re addressing that.”
The kids go free initiative is part of the AFL events package which includes support from the State Government for the Grand Final Parade and Footy Festival.
