Football/ netball postponed or cancelled

THE Ballarat Football Netball League regular seasons will have a delayed start due to COVID-19 this year following an announcement made late Tuesday afternoon by BFNL management.

BFNL Senior, Junior and the Western Bulldogs Under 9s seasons have all been postponed until the end of May at the earliest.

Other events like the Barwon Netball Championships, the league’s Media Day and season launch, the Junior Lightning Premiership and senior and junior interleague have all been cancelled.

The Ballarat Netball Assoc Tournament set for Sunday,19 April Netball Vic Association Championships planned for Sunday, 25 May are still up in the air and further notice will be issued.

A statement from BFNL management said, “[The] season will be delayed until the end of May initially, with the league to reassess the situation at this time, based on the advice of health professionals and sporting bodies.”

The move comes following a recommendation from AFL Victoria.
