Lloyd locks into Miners line-up
A KEY forward has signed on to return to the Ballarat Miners for 2024.
For a second year, Jake Lloyd will play the NBL1 South Season with the team.
“The people involved at the club made the decision even easier, and with a core group of us already coming back, along with some of the newer signings, I just know that we are going to have a successful and enjoyable season in 2024,” he said.
“I just felt like I had more to prove in the Ballarat uniform and wanted to show that to my coach, teammates, and the Ballarat community.”
Ballarat Miners head coach Luke Brennan said he values Lloyd’s versatility, shooting and defensive abilities.
“Jake is a great teammate who still has plenty of growth left in his game and I’m excited to see that happen as the season progresses,” he said.
Lloyd previously competed with the Bendigo Braves, who the Miners will play in round one on Wednesday 3 April at home at Selkirk Stadium.
He is confirmed to represent the team this year, alongside Max Cody, Amos Brooks, and import Tyler Rudolph.
“It’s great to have Jake back on board with the Miners for another season,” said Ballarat Miners elite teams committee member Matt Sheehan.
“One of our off-season priorities was Jake’s return to the Miners. Jake is a true two-way player and will provide coach Luke Brennan with the flexibility of playing many different positions for the Miners this season.
“With Nic Pozoglou pursuing his basketball career in Europe currently, Jake will have much more responsibility for the team this year.
“Jake is a pure team player, very well liked amongst the playing group, and is a great role model for our Junior Miners coming through.”
