Lost marker finally finds home

LAST Saturday marked an historic day for the Ballarat Yacht club on Lake Wendouree.

A commemorative stone that was to have been laid when the building was relocated over 60 years ago finally took its place at the club room’s entrance.

The club was built by members with all voluntary work, with the original building at View Point and moved to its current location in 1957.

The original stone was made to open and establish the new club where it stands today, but unforeseen circumstances the it was never laid, lost for some time.

When it was finally found, the club decided to commemorate the stone and lay during the launch of the 2018 Ballarat yachting season.

The club will be holding a recommissioning of the restored Honour Board.
