Rush line up nearly set
WITH just over a month before the start of the NBL1 South Season, the final makeup of the Selkirk Ballarat Rush is becoming clearer.
In the last couple of weeks two more names have been added to the team list, with Kasey Burton and Taylah Wynne joining the squad.
A 178-centimetre-tall forward, Burton has spent time in playing for WNBL sides Melbourne Boomers and Bendigo Spirit.
Originally from Ballarat, she said she was keen to get back on court in the new stadium.
“It will be fun to try out the new home court at the Ballarat Sports Events Centre, it’s definitely got a lot of room to cater for our amazing Ballarat support base. Hopefully we can get a few fans there,” she said.
“I have always enjoyed being involved in the local Basketball Ballarat community and have maintained my connections through coaching at my local club Exies.
“I have already began assisting with the Aussie Hoops program and I look forward to being involved with our junior representative teams.”
The second signing, Wynne, is also a local product. She was down to play for the Rush in 2020 before the season was cancelled.
“I am really excited to sign with the Selkirk Ballarat Rush, after having some time off it will be great to get back onto the court again,” she said.
“I am looking forward to playing under Eric Hayes, he is a great coach with a lot of knowledge and experience that will only help me improve my game.
“Having known Eric since juniors, there has been so much he has already done for me and my game. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve as a team.”
The Rush’s NBL1 South 2021 campaign gets underway on 17 April with a road game against the Albury-Wodonga Bandits.
