Scholarship to help sportspeople reach full potential
APPLICATIONS are open until this Monday 4 November for the next round of Ballarat Sports Foundation scholarships.
The Ballarat Sports Foundation aims to encourage participation in a healthy lifestyle and to support local athletes, coaches and administrators.
“These are people who require financial support to reach the next level and to achieve their full potential in sport, be it at state, national and international level,” said Ballarat Sports Foundation chair Peter Blackburn.
One of the recipients of the foundation’s last round of scholarships was Ballarat’s 2024 Paris Olympic high jumper, Yual Reath.
Mr Blackburn said it has been great to be part of Reath’s journey.
“Giving him an opportunity to continue to achieve his best and continue his passion for his sport has been important,” he said.
“We’ve supported a lot of athletes like Yual over many years. The scholarship commenced back in 1996 and we’ve now provided scholarships to over 1350 people over 80 sports.
“We thank the many businesses and community groups that support the Ballarat Sports Foundation. It’s only possible with the support of the community that we have the foundation.”

Scholarship announcements and presentations are set to be held later this month.
