THE Federation University WestVic Academy of Sport has appointed Shenae Keleher as their new executive officer.

Ms Keleher was a young member of the Academy as a taekwondo athlete between 2013 to 2015, and went onto study bachelors of exercise sport science, and business, majoring in sports management.

Having worked as a Triathlon Victoria communications and marketing staffer with former WestVic EO Rob Ward, and as a part-time assistant at the Barwon Sports Academy in Geelong, Ms Keleher also brings Victorian Institute of Sport community programs and marketing experience to the role.

“I am really excited for this opportunity to come back to WestVic. It is very full circle. Having come through the program myself, I have firsthand experience of the dedication junior athletes have to their chosen sport,” she said.

“There is a lot of sacrifice, juggling of commitments and hard work that comes with dedicating yourself to sport, and at times it can be a somewhat lonely journey.

“To be back at WestVic in a position where I will be able to support athletes along their pathway is just awesome. I hope I can bring some different perspectives to the EO role, a connection to athletes, and offer support to our families and partners. It is time to get to work.”

FedUni WestVic Academy of Sport chair Alan Campbell said the board is thrilled to welcome Ms Keleher back to the team.

“We are extremely excited to see her share her passion and dedication for sport and support for all athletes across the WestVic community,” he said.
