Simpson to return to Miners
MICAH Simpson has re-signed with the Ballarat Miners for next year’s Mitsubishi NBL1 South season.
Simpson joined the Miners this year and has averaged 10.2 points, four assists and 2.7 rebounds per game.
Her performance led to her being awarded a full contract with the Bendigo Spirit for the current WNBL season, where she continued to work with coach Kennedy Kereama and fellow Miner Abbey Wehrung.
Simpson said she is excited to see what the season ahead holds in Ballarat.
“It was an easy decision to re-sign in Ballarat,” she said.
“I loved everything about last year so I can’t wait to come back and represent the Ballarat Miners again.”
Simpson also worked with juniors and the Ballarat community over the past year, being awarded the inaugural Female Athlete Community Award.
“We are pumped to have Micah back for another NBL1 season,” Kereama said.
“It’s been a big 12 months for her, and she has been investing a mountain of time into her game.
“I have no doubt with all the work she has done, Micah has positioned herself to make a huge impact on our team this upcoming NBL1 season.”
Simpson is the first signing for Kereama’s 2025 squad.
