Soccer club steps up
BALLARAT Soccer Club are joining men’s State League 5 West.
The senior teams will compete against clubs from Melbourne’s west and the north side of Geelong, getting an entry level feel of the quality and progress of state competition.
BSC’s Lucy Brennan said the club is very excited, gearing up for their best season yet, where they can bridge the gap between local and higher state leagues.
Coach, Jamie Winton is looking forward to a challenge and his new bunch of players coming together.
“It’s important for the club. We’re looking forward to the opportunity for better players to step up to another level. It’s a more serious level of playing, training commitments are greater, and requirements are greater,” Mr Winton said.
“We’ve got five weeks of preseason training. It’s exciting to see how they grow and perform together… and make sure they gel.”
There is opportunity for BSC to be promoted up a league in the next season if they make an impression, but Ms Brennan emphasised that’s not a priority.
“We’re here to develop and make sure the boys are having fun,” she said.
