TWO key Ballarat sporting locations are set for capital works improvements thanks to the City and a grant from Sport and Recreation Victoria

At Victoria Park there’ll be two new turf soccer pitches, a cricket pitch, subsurface drainage works, new turf and an automatic irrigation system.

That project will be fully funded by the City of Ballarat as part of Recreation Services Capital program.

The works at Alfredton Recreation Reserve are funded by the State Government’s Sport and Recreation Victoria Country Football Netball Grant.

They’ll include the redevelopment of the Alfredton Village Green grass football oval, a new synthetic cricket wicket, new subsurface drainage, a new irrigation system and new turf.

Mayor Cr Ben Taylor said the $2 million projects will improve the venues and facilities even further.

“Ballarat is renowned for its sporting amenities and these new upgrades will further add to the strong sporting reputation of our region,” he said.

“We can all look forward to the opening of these projects and welcome the opportunities it will provide for our community.”

Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison said that she was proud of the Victorian Government’s support for the Alfredton project.

“This funding is great news for grassroots sports and encourages more people to get involved and stay active,” she said.
