Sports champ to speak at women’s event
IT’S ladies’ night at the Ballarat Sportsmen’s Club’s December meeting with a multi-talented guest speaker lined up to share her story.
Olympian, world champion, businessperson and author, Sue Stanley, is coming to the Ballarat Golf Club on Wednesday 6 December.
Stanley is a former gymnast, aerobics athlete, water skier, was named Ms Fitness World Champion in 2000, and was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1998.
“At our designated Ladies’ Night, we always try to secure a top female sporting personality as our guest speaker for that night,” said BSC committee member Greg Whitecross.
“We are very fortunate to have Sue Stanley OAM as our very special guest speaker, who reached the highest level of performance in four different disciplines throughout her illustrious career.
“She began in the AIS’ gymnastics team, where she attained an international level 10 status.
“She was later welcomed to the global sporting stage as a member of the Australia 1988 Seoul Olympic Team in what was then a demonstration sport of water skiing.”
Mr Whitecross said Stanley went onto find her “true passion” in the sport of aerobics.
“She was renowned worldwide for her exceptional strength, flexibility, and physical prowess, and her professional Aerobics career spanned three years from 1991 to 1994,” he said.
Stanley won many gold medals in state, national, and global championship competitions.
Both Ballarat Sportsmen’s Club members and guests are invited to the dinner, which is set to start at 7pm, with arrival from 6.30pm.
