Steel Prince crowned cup winner
ANTHONY and Sam Freedman-trained import Steel Prince took out the 2020 bet 365 Geelong Cup and has now earned a place in this years Melbourne Cup on 2 November.
Jockey Jye McNeil rode Steel Prince to victory over the 2400-meter race to beat home Le Don De Vie in second and King Of Leogrance who ran third.
“Credit to this horse, he is incredible. He has obviously been around a while and he keeps turning up,” Sam Freedman said of the Geelong Cup winner who also contested last year’s Melbourne Cup.
“I said to Jye, ‘If you’re right there at the top of the straight he is a horse that loves a dog fight’. He was too strong today.” Freedman told Racing.com.
