Top spot for Loreto students
FOUR Loreto students recently returned from Melbourne with a Victoria All-Schools X-Country Relay four by three-kilometre event win.
Amali Torney, Bonnie Burt, Ailish Ryan and Aria Violini took just over 47 minutes to run the race and were competing against 22 other schools from across the state.
“It was really exciting, especially since I just started at Loreto, so it was really cool,” said Aria.
This was the first time Loreto had entered a team in this event and Ailish said the group was thrilled to take out the win.
“I was probably shocked when the race started and Amali was doing so good,” she said.
“It was great to see Aria bring it home.”
Unlike other running races, this event required a team effort, which Amali said makes the win even more special.
“Relays are really fun because we get to be with each other instead of against each other,” she said.
“We get to have fun before it and celebrate together so it’s much more fun.”
The four students thanked their teacher Kelli Baird for her support and said they are looking forward to competing more in the future.
