Fernwood. For Women.

March 3, 2023 BY

Experienced owner of Fernwood Ballarat, Lee Squire, recently cut the ribbon on a brand-new 1500-square-metre gym located on Creswick Road.

FERNWOOD Fitness believes in a balanced lifestyle that includes an abundance of nourishment, exercise, wellness, good friends, and self-love.

Established by mother and former weightlifting champion Diana Williams in 1989, Fernwood was born from her interest in weight training and the physiological and metabolic impact it can have on the female body.

Although unusual for women to work out with weights in the 1980s, as the focus was on the male demographic and most training programs for women revolved around aerobic exercises, the women’s-only gym concept took off and Williams never looked back.

Driven by being accessible to any woman, Fernwood’s unique business model has created a brand with a diverse range of members and franchisees by putting the needs of their people first.

Whether their goals relate to health and wellness, or business and career development, Fernwood aims to empower women to shine in every way.

Lee Squire, owner of Fernwood Ballarat, is one such woman that has gone from strength to strength since joining the national network.

Initially spending 23 years on the corner of Mair and Lydiard streets, Fernwood Ballarat recently moved locations to Creswick Road and unveiled a brand-new purpose-built health club with a much larger footprint of 1500 square metres to support women in achieving their fitness goals.

The club is designed to ensure any woman can customise her health and fitness routines based on her lifestyle and needs.

Featuring a glamourous sweeping, open staircase, with modern and spacious facilities, the club includes a dedicated 12-bed reformer Pilates studio, personal training, and Fernwood’s signature HIIT small group training program FIIT30, plus unlimited group fitness and wellness classes including Les Mills, boxing, and yoga.

Understanding that women are often primary caregivers for children, members are encouraged to make use of the larger registered childcare facility, as well as easy-access parking, cardio studios, and huge gym floors with premium weight training equipment.

Members can also expect all Fernwood’s usual perks like complementary hair products, toiletries, sanitary products, hair dryers and straighteners, free breakfast, coffee and tea, device charging stations, Wi-Fi and more.

“We were so excited and proud to finally open our stunning new premium health club for our members and our community to enjoy,” Lee said.

“We’re the experts in women’s health and fitness for good reason.

The demand from the women of Ballarat shows how important it is for women to have a welcoming 24/7 sanctuary where they feel safe, comfortable, and confident to invest in their health and wellbeing.”

The fact that Fernwood is exclusively female creates a wonderful feeling of calm and contentment – no comparisons, no egos – simply every woman working out together, having fun and supporting one another within a strong community where they can feel understood.

Women looking to kickstart their health and fitness journey are invited to celebrate International Women’s Day with an exclusive offer for a free five-day pass for two to Fernwood Ballarat.
