THE region\u2019s future AFLW players are being invited to attend a clinic at Smythesdale.<\/p>\n
The event, hosted by the Woady Warriors, is for girls who want to develop their football skills with no previous experience required.<\/p>\n
The clinic is run by The Footy Factory, an organisation which aims to give girls the opportunity to play football, and AFLW players Tahla Gillard, Sin\u00e9ad Goldrick, Alyssa Bannan and Casey Sherriff will be in attendance.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s tailored around girls being coached by girls and learning from some of the AFLW players to help build their passion for the game,\u201d said Woady Warriors vice-president Brodie Doolan.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey can have some one-on-one time and hopefully grow the love of the game.\u201d<\/p>\n
Doolan hopes the girls who take part can learn what opportunities are available to them.<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully participants take into the future that they have the communities backing and learn that there is more than the local level,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is that pathway available to get into the next levels.\u201d<\/p>\n
While the Woady Warriors does not currently have a girls\u2019 side, Doolan said this is something they are hoping to achieve in the future.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to promote the love of girls’ football within our local community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019d love in the coming years to have a girls\u2019 side.\u201d<\/p>\n
The clinic will be held on Saturday 23 March from 10am until 2pm at Woady Yaloak Recreation Reserve.<\/p>\n
Tickets to the event cost $69 and include lunch and snacks and can be purchased on the Footy Factory website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
