TWO Ballarat businesses are coming together to highlight the region’s produce and encourage the community to shop local.<\/p>\n
Tim’s Toasties, run by former MasterChef Australia contestant Tim Bone and his wife Abbey, will be at Kilderkin Distillery this Sunday for an afternoon of gin and toasties.<\/p>\n
Attendees can choose to have one of five gourmet toasties with either a gin flight or a gin and mixer.<\/p>\n
Bone said he predicts the ‘sir lamb a lot’ toasty, which highlights local produce, will be very popular.<\/p>\n
“Whenever I have a lamb toasty on the menu, it always sells out the quickest. I think Ballarat just loves its lamb,” he said.<\/p>\n
“There will be slow roasted lamb from Midvale Quality Meats, and Rob and the team there supply me with all my meat.”<\/p>\n
The toasty will also feature Meredith goats’ cheese, pumpkin from Wilsons Fruit and Vegetables, and homemade onion jam.<\/p>\n
Kilderkin Distillery and Tim’s Toasties regularly collaborate and distillery owner Chris Pratt said it was important for local businesses to support one another.<\/p>\n
“We’ve got a really special positive relationship with Tim and Abbey and we work really well with them,” he said.<\/p>\n
“We always value local collaborations and we are very strongly Ballarat focused.”<\/p>\n
The event also celebrates the first episode of Good Chef Bad Chef, which will air on Channel 10 next week and feature Bone.<\/p>\n
“We’re hoping to give people a little preview into some goodies from the show so it’s a little celebration of that as well and just to thank everyone in Ballarat for their support,” said Bone.<\/p>\n
