THE Probus Club of Begonia City has purchased a new computer for the organisation after receiving a grant from the Community Bank Buninyong.<\/p>\n
The computer previously used by the organisation was old, heavy and slow making is difficult for club members to use and eventually it stopped working.<\/p>\n
“Our club used to have a computer which was used for secretarial duties,” Murray Stevens, project officer at the club, said.<\/p>\n
“We also used it especially for guest speakers to they can present their topic.<\/p>\n
“When it died totally, that’s when we realised how much we needed it.”<\/p>\n
As some club members wear hearing aids or glasses,<\/p>\n
Mr Stevens said having a computer for presentations was important.<\/p>\n
“We try and make sure we have interesting programs and guest speakers and this was one way which added to that instead of just someone standing up and talking.<\/p>\n
“A lot of us have hearing aids and a lot of us have glasses so if you can hear and see what they’re talking about you have a better chance of remembering it or being inspired.”<\/p>\n
Mr Murray thanked the Community Bank Buninyong for their support.<\/p>\n
“We’ve invited the manager Randall from the bank to a meeting so we can publicly thank him and he has also offered to talk to us about bank scams,” he said.<\/p>\n
