SEBASTAPOL is set to receive a new community hub with work beginning at the Vickers Street site.<\/p>\n
Design images have now been released for the facility which aims to foster community connections and improve educational outcomes.<\/p>\n
Two buildings on Vickers Street will be demolished to make way for the hub which is expected to open in 2026.<\/p>\n
The facility will feature three kindergarten rooms, a main hall with a stage, four meeting rooms, maternal and child health consultation rooms, a community kitchen, an outdoor and undercover play space, and on-site car parking.<\/p>\n
“Having one place that can cater to such diverse residents is fantastic,” said City of Ballarat mayor Cr Des Hudson.<\/p>\n
“Whether it is the Sebastopol seniors, young children starting their education journey, new babies getting vital health checks or a range of community groups, this facility will cater to them all.”<\/p>\n
The project is set to cost $16 million with five million dollars from the City of Ballarat and four and a half million dollars each from State and Federal Governments.<\/p>\n
“It’s terrific to see this exciting project progressing with demolition beginning and the release of the design images,” said Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King.<\/p>\n
“This is an important step in the development of the new and fit for purpose centre that people of all ages in Sebastopol will use, enjoy and be proud of.”<\/p>\n
The building will become the new home of current user groups including the Sebastopol Senior Citizens and the 1st Sebastopol Guides.<\/p>\n
