THE Lexton Community Hub officially opened late last month thanks to funding from all three levels of government.<\/p>\n
The facility includes a multi-purpose function space, commercial kitchen, outdoor play area, informal childcare and playgroups, and upgraded sporting facilities and change rooms.<\/p>\n
The project cost $3.8 million with $1.85 million from the Federal Government, $820,000 from the State Government and $160,000 from the Pyrenees Shire.<\/p>\n
Infrastructure, transport, regional development and local government minister Catherine King said the facility will allow more of the community to participate in events and activities.<\/p>\n
“It’s excellent to see the Lexton Community Hub completed, enabling growing local participation in sports such as footy, cricket and golf,” she said.<\/p>\n
“This fabulous facility will also host a range of activities and events, providing direct and indirect economic benefits to the community, local groups and associations.”<\/p>\n
Pyrenees Shire Mayor Robert Rance said the space is an asset to the community.<\/p>\n
“The community’s vision for the hub was to create a multi-purpose space for social events and activities to help people in remote areas connect,” he said.<\/p>\n
“The result is a state-of the-art facility with a new commercial kitchen, upgraded sports change rooms, an outdoor play space and space for informal childcare and playgroups.<\/p>\n
