A new Choose Tap water foundation has been installed at Sebastopol BMX track thanks to a partnership between Central Highlands Water, the City of Ballarat and Sebastopol Cycling Club.<\/p>\n
The aim of the new tap is to provide quality drinking water to local riders and encourage the community to bring their own bottle which provides health, cost and sustainability benefits.<\/p>\n
“We are dedicated to supporting initiatives that improve the health and wellbeing of the local community by continuing to join forces with the City of Ballarat, to actively support projects that promote the importance of keeping hydrated all year round,” said Central Highlands Water managing director, Jeff Haydon.<\/p>\n
“Further to this initiative, we can also work closely with the local community to reduce single use plastic waste by refilling their reusable water bottles, so we can continue to do our part for the environment, by making a sustainable choice, and choosing tap.”<\/p>\n
Research shows the human body is 70 per cent water and that dehydration can reduce the ability to concentrate by 13 per cent.<\/p>\n
Mayor Cr Des Hudson said it was important to provide access to quality water to local riders.<\/p>\n
“We are pleased to be able to work closely with Central Highlands Water on such a worthy project,” he said.<\/p>\n
